Different Types of Tumors - Sarcomas, Carcinomas, Leukemias, and Lymphomas

There are four types of tumors based on their characteristic features. The size of tumor, speed of growth of tumor, and the place of their origin of tumor determine the type of tumors. Each kind of tumors function are not identical. Different types of cancer types in various tissues. The four types of tumors are known as sarcomas, carcinomas, leukemias, and lymphomas. The suffix -oma is added to a cancer type that are benign in nature and malignant tumors are added sarcoma with it.

Carcinomas: Epithelium is the inner lining of intestines, lungs, and breasts. These types of tumors develop in the epithelial tissues of the skin, such as inner lining of glands, for example, mucus-forming inside of the lungs and intestine glands. Examples: Adenocarcinoma, squamous cell carcinoma, anaplastic
carcinoma.

Sarcomas: These kind of tumors form in the bone tissues and they normally develop on connective tissues present in the bones, muscles, tendons, nerve tissues, and blood tubes, and so found any part in the body. There may a possibility of both carcinoma and sarcoma in the same area that contain connective tissues, for example, pancreas. Examples: Chondrosarcoma, alveolar soft part sarcoma, and fibrosarcoma.

Leukemias: Cancers form in the white blood cells. Leuke- means white. The another name for this cancer is blood cancer. This type of cancer forms in the marrow of the bones. The white blood cell count is increased abnormally when leukemia is present. There are two types of leukemia, such as acute leukemia and
chronic leukemia. Examples: Hairy cell leukemia, T-cell prolymphocytic leukemia, and large granular lymphocytic leukemia.

Lymphomas: Generally lymphomas are sarcoma type and so these are known as lymphosarcomas too. They usualy form in the lymphatic organs and vessels and so the probability of forming all over the body. Lymphomas are life-threatening tumors. These tumors are of two types, for example, Hodgkin's lymphoma and non-Hodgkin's lymphoma. Treatment is done via bone marrow transplantation, radiotherapy, and chemotherapy.
