CT Scan to Detect Cancer

CT scan to detect cancer is a revolution in the medical field in the recent years. CT scans are helpful in visually examinining the whole body that the parts that are even difficult to view using other visual examination methods. It creates great quality images of the patient's body part that are helpful in diagnosing the disease exactly. They can not only create quality images, but also very clear images when the patient is drunk a contrast material before the visual exam. This is a better test than other visual exam tests, such as x-ray test, angiogram, and nuclear scans. We will learn about MRI or magnetic resonance imaging technique later in the next post.

CT Scan and Lung Cancer

CT scan machine does its great job of scanning on the area of suspicion of disease or pain, for example, lungs, chest, abdominal areas or brain. It covers the x-ray picture of a separate thin area of tissue one by one and it can be monitored in a computer screen as slice images as cross-section image of the body part in slices. This kind of visual examination is very useful to analyze the area of the disease or what kind of disease in a particular area of the body part. For example, when CT scan is done in the lungs of the patient suspicious for lung cancer, the images of lungs can be monitored in slices in the monitor and so the presence of lung cancer is traced easily and clearly. CT scan to detect cancer in any part of the body is a vital test nowadays.

CT Scan Cancer Risk

There is one drawback in the CT scan method is over exposure of x-rays to any particular body part for the diagnosis of disease. CT scan to detect cancer can be done only in the patients who are clearly suspicious for cancer for the diagnostic purpose of the area of the disease.
